The wood varies from light pink to red, darkening to red brown with light. Silver figure clearly visible. It has clearly demarcated sapwood. The grain is straight or interlocked and the texture is coarse. Peeling and slicing is reported to be good. Gluing is correct. It dries rapid to normal.

Surian Cedar has a reddish brown heartwood with pale red sapwood. The texture is moderately coarse and grain often interlocked. Surian has a definite cedar odour and the wood is very similar to that of Australian red cedar.
